Warner Music Group
Assistant Counsel, Digital Legal Affairs - New York, NY
The attorney position requires 3-6 years of experience practicing corporate intellectual property law, with an emphasis on new media and copyright matters. The attorney reports to the Executive Counsel, Business Affairs, Strategic and Digital Initiatives, and works closely with the General Counsel. The attorney is responsible for negotiating and drafting complex and often first-of-kind digital deals in the new media space (e.g., download, subscription, audio and video streaming, radio, music apps and video game uses), and for briefing WMG’s executive management on new media deals and developments. The role involves working closely with the Digital Strategy and Business Development team and hosting consensus-building discussions across WMG’s labels, WMG’s music publisher Warner/Chappell, and other business units and constituencies on important topics raised by such deals and developments. The attorney will be required to function at the highest degree of precision, at a fast pace, with a highly sophisticated team of experts in their field. Previous legal work with music companies (particularly record labels) or technology companies licensing music or other content is positively viewed.
